Please contact me at info@thebirthsurfer.com if you have a burning question that needs an answer!
First we’ll have a free discovery call to decide how I might be able to help you. You will then be sent a link to book and pay for my antenatal class.
If booking doula services, we will have a meet up in person to see if we’re a good fit and then booking will go on from there!
A doula is a trained professional who provides emotional, physical, and informational support to someone who is expecting a baby, going into labour, or in the postpartum period. Think of them as a birthing coach who is there to help you throughout your pregnancy journey. They can provide advice on breathing techniques, pain management, and other coping strategies to help you during labor. Doulas also provide continuous support during childbirth, and can help with breastfeeding and postpartum recovery. Their goal is to empower parents to have the birth experience they want, and to feel supported and confident throughout the process.
No. Doulas are not medical professionals and nor should they act like one. We complement health professionals such as midwives by providing evidence based support and signposting to our clients. We are there to hold you and support you through your own choices in birth and postpartum, but we do not give medical advice or provide medical services. In this way, we are not bound by trust policies or restrictions and are guided purely by our love for our clients and our passion for physiological birth.
Due to having a young family myself, I am currently unable to attend births in person (though I intend to do so in future). However, I do offer a very competitive ’Doula in your pocket’ service which provides phone and text support around your birth, dedicated to you. I can also provide antenatal preparation and postpartum breastfeeding support. If you would prefer a doula to attend your birth in person, please get in touch as I have local doulas I can recommend.
I provide information on relaxation and breathing exercises during my antenatal course, but I feel the information element is far more important to birth preparation than hypno scripts. With me, you will be able to learn all of the thought processes behind Hypnobirthing as a comfort measure, whilst being able to focus on the evidence-based information around the birthing process itself, including interventions such as c-section, instrumental delivery and continuous monitoring.
I am also running a 3 hour Hypnobirthing masterclass online for Hypnobirthing essentials and information around the process of birth, helping to prepare you to approach it with positivity and calm! These sessions are perfect as a refresher in hypnobirthing or for those who want to know more but don’t want to commit to expensive, month long courses in it.
The beauty of my services is they can be completely bespoke. I come with a basic outline of what I can cover, but can be completely guided by you, your birth partner and any specific questions you have. This makes me perfect for every couple, regardless of how many births they have had. If after our course together you still have questions or new things crop up, I can offer one-off planning sessions at a discounted rate.
